SAN DIEGO: FILM COMMUNITY MOBILIZES IN UNPRECEDENTED EVENT

February 1 Pitchfest to Draw Over 600 Local Filmmakers, Cast, and Crew

Following two wildly popular networking events in late 2012 with nearly 500 of the San Diego film community’s best and brightest writers, directors, actors, and producers in attendance, the third San Diego Independent Filmmaker’s Consortium Pitchfest and Mixer will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013. More than 700 local filmmakers, film students, actors, writers, and investors are expected to attend the event from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Four Points by Sheraton.

The Pitchfest and Mixer is sponsored and organized in part by the newly formed San Diego Student and Independent Film Foundation (SDSIFF). The goal of SDSIFF is to further San Diego’s independent film scene by any means necessary.

“The response from the filmmaking community has been overwhelming” said SDSIFF co-founder and Consortium organizer, Jodi Cilley. “We’ve already succeeded in uniting and organizing a large part of the film community to begin producing more and stronger work through collaborating.”

Countless new project have been inspired by the event and local filmmakers, cast and crew are experiencing opportunities to work projects like never seen before.

Highlights of the February 1st event include:

Mixer – Exceptional networking in a relaxed cocktail atmosphere. Attendees are encouraged to
bring headshots, reels, samples, and any other information they would like to distribute.

Pitchfest – Two-minute pitches from local producers and screenwriters. Participants may not
only find cast and crew but also assistance with marketing and screening.

Convention Style Floor – We expanded to include a convention style floor with tables hosted by UCSD Extension’s Digital Arts Center, Moo.com, Media Arts Center San Diego, Act One Pictures, Multi Image Productions/Fred Ashman Seminars, New Media Rights, Platt College, San Diego IndieFest and more.

Reels Showcase – Actors and Directors have the chance to showcase their talent through a screening of dozens of submitted reels.

Screenings – This evening’s lineup include short films, webisodes, music videos, short animations and short documentaries produced entirely in the San Diego region using San Diego talent, crew and locations. Over 2 hours or screenings will be showcased.

There is a $5 admission fee with pre-registration highly recommended.
The Four Points by Sheraton is located at 8110 Aero Drive, San Diego, California 92123.
