DVD review by Lev Six

Nearly 25 years ago, I was skateboarding through the bitter heat of El Cajon when I spotted a ‘69 Cadillac crowned with a silver alien saucer traveling down Main Street. I theorized that the spacecraft was a prop from the film Forbidden Planet. The woman in the driver’s seat had a spiraling white beehive with a gaudy sequined gown that could have been stolen from West Virginia’s Good Witch of the East Pageant queen of the future. This kooky braud looked like a Southern belle who rose from the ashes of the third Civil War. I laughed and continued home, forgetting about my powerful experience, assuming she was another meth addict tripping out and exploring her archdemons.

A few nights later, I was flipping through cable networks when I stumbled upon the mesmerizing Cadillac beehive tweaker on a public access channel. I learned that her name was “Uriel,” and she was the founder of the Unarius Academy of Science. Unarius is an acronym for “Universal Articulate Interdimensional Understanding of Science.” Unarius claims that Uriel and subsequent “channels” and “sub-channels” received messages from advanced intelligent beings. The magical cosmic information they acquired has been published in over 100 volumes since 1954.

As much as I wanted to be abducted by a distant civilization, I was skeptical about the Unarius transdimensional message. I headed to high school at dawn and explained to my best friend that I discovered something worth dropping acid for. He secured potent brown blotter later in the week and we devoured hits at lunch. Once we felt a comforting burn cascading across our brains, we skateboarded to the Unarius Academy of Science. We threw the door open and were surprised to discover that no one was staffing the front desk. As we perused through volumes of 4D knowledge in their bookstore, I began to see fractal patterns. I went into a trance as I stared into a nearby diorama depicting the joyous reunion of dozens of intergalactic civilizations. As much as I wanted to believe it was real, I began to feel as though I were lost in the mind of a schizophrenic con artist whore. I turned to my friend and noticed his face was panicked. We immediately fled the premises and skateboarded to psychic safety, inhaling the sweet stench of reality.

Watch the Children of the Stars a documentary for your brown blotter moment.

Photo at right: Space Brothers, Unarius and her long-deceased husband … it was always about her though. She lived forever. They used to carry her in on a platform as an honored queen on public access TV, which aired in El Cajon immediately before Tom Metzger’s show Race and Reason. This is classic small town Southern California white trash at its finest.
