Peter Matthew Kasen

Dust, Doors And Debt

Solo Artists Peter Matthew Kasen is impressive. His voice is rough with a smooth tint of velvety soft sensitivity. This album makes me think of a gray day lounging in a coffee shop. its also a perfect soundtrack to a movie, a black and white indie drama. It’s like Evan Dando and modest mouse on Quaaludes although it not something i haven’t heard before its still a spacey, nostalgic rough indie rock trip that I want to relive. Kasen folk like indie rock songs are original and complex. Also, very catchy. I find myself replaying the tracks “Impact” and “Collapse and Fade.”

This is a very relaxing yet charging CD and I see tons of potential, from sold out venues and top college stations blaring Kasen’s intense tunes. The track “ascot ridge” reminds me of a more mellow Chris Cornell solo album vocal, rich, grunge yet a bit more relaxed than most folksy rock bands. Poetic with lyrics and mood this CD is one to watch out for and to never doubt.

The music on this album becomes a bit redundant with guitar cords not too different from each song, however he manages to use that to his benefit by staying consistent and knowing what sound he truly wants to get across to the listeners.with spacey melodies and a drone filled voice I could easily fall in love with this CD.
