“I believe it strongly enough I am willing to face the criticism…”

Nathan Fletcher on the upcoming Iran agreement:

Rick Perry’s campaign manager just called me a “disgusting disgrace” for joining a group of veterans at a meeting with the President. I know he had a bad week, but that is a sad statement of what our politics has become today.

People feel strongly about the Iran agreement and while I respect others principled opposition I believe strongly we should try all diplomatic options before we launch yet another military operation. I believe this as a combat veteran who has fought in a war and lost close personal friends. I believe it strongly enough I am willing to face the criticism–even personal attacks to share my principled and deeply personal belief. And this issue shouldn’t be partisan–sitting in the same meeting were Republican veterans who served in senior positions in the Bush administration. There are things worth going to war over, but you should try everything else first.
