Happy Ron Hill

TERRIBLY HAPPY

review by Kim Acrylic

This music came is a rough mix of musical comedy that had me often thinking that it was trying to be a soundtrack for an episode of South Park or the Simpson’s.

I really liked the MUSIC and vocals, but I just believe that the actual “lyrics” if trying to be funny, could have been even a little more over the top. In the end, I couldn’t quite “get” this music. Is it a mixture of the presidents of the USA or tenacious D with some weird AL thrown in? Humorous attempts like lyrics such as “don’t touch me there cos I ain’t gunna be your boy toy,” just, to me, could have been funnier.

This band has such potential however, to be a very good, with many talented musicians and a good vocalist. But the words just didn’t sit right with me nor did I really find it funny enough to be a comedy album. Songs on the CD like “Dickless Wonder” have a catchy tune and you are just left waiting for REALLY funny lyrics OR something a bit more…

I just find that this music lacks a lot of the foundation that I think could have been achieved. Hopefully there will be a more productive sophomore release for Happy Ron next time around.
