The High Anxiety of Meg White

The White Stripes Are A No-Show For 2007

by Reviewer Rob

Meg White’s anxiety disorder has forced the cancellation of The White Stripes tour, including fall dates in Britain. According the the Associated Press all dates are off and refunds are available at point of purchase, “except for the Austin City Limits Festival, which is nonrefundable because it is a festival.”

So if you bought a ticket to the Austin festival only to see The White Stripes and not any of the other bands you’re out of luck.

Their Wikipedia listing puts the date of the announcement at 9/11/07, so it’s been over a week now. Perhaps the former Detroit alt-rockers are kickin it in their adopted home of Nashville now or on a beach in the Yucatan. Maybe the volatile Jack White is getting into another bar-brawl like he reportedly did at the Detroit Magic Stick bar in December of 2003, which resulted in Jack’s guilty plea in court to a charge of assault and battery and a warning from the judge not to contact the Von Bondies’ singer Jason Stollteimer, whom he punched and spat at, or else be forced to attend anger management classes.

Like many accomplished musicians, Meg and Jack are fine artists but they clearly need a shrink.
