The Third Hand

Reviewed by Collin Wicker

In his newest album, The Third Hand, RJD2 moves away from Hip Hop instrumentalism, ventures into the expansive realm that is pop music, and reinvents himself as a talented singer/ multi-instrumentalist. Unlike his previous two solo albums, most of the tracks on The Third Hand contain vocals, and it’s not just collaborators singing either. It’s RJ himself. Tracks like “You Never Had it so Good” and “Have Mercy” showcase RJ’s singing talents, while “Get It” and “Paper Bubble” deliver the expected instrumental excellency. The Third Hand is sure to thrill die-hard RJD2 fans, while simultaneously pulling fresh devotees into the fray.
