Bunky
“Born to Be a Motorcycle”

review by Vikkee Payge

Well, Emily Joyce and Rafter have done it; they came out with an album that makes you laugh, cry, and is a mix of sweetness and silliness. Take song #3, ‘Funny Like the Moon’, for example. It starts with a simple drum/cymbal beat and a few guitar chords with lyrics like “you…wear a smile so long/there’s feathers in your teeth.” All of a sudden, it goes into a crazy, maniacal drum banging, guitar rocking chorus that includes ‘Beep, beep, beep, beep!!’ These random styles alternate a few times, throwing the listener off guard, then ends with trumpet playing softly in the background, and finishes with my favorite lyrics…’La la la la la’.

The album’s a little bit genius, a little bit childish (a good thing!), a little bit romantic, and a lot of great. If you’re craving something new and completely different and sweet, it’s perfect. The chemistry between the whole band is evident when you see them live. Emily’s on neon painted drums and Rafter jumps around like a maniac, and the assortment of other players, like Gabriel on the sax, flow together like a well groomed monkey.

  1. I’m not quite sure what viable alternatives you could have realistically expected. Anyone who he picks is going to be conservative and strict in his interpretation of the Constitution, and will likely overturn RvW as well as many of the past decade’s 5-4 decisions (should they make their way back to the SC). There’s no way around it. It’s just a fact. Knock him down and they’ll just send another one through. I don’t know why so many groups on the left are rising up in arms over the nomination, or even why it’s being covered so heavily. Pick the fights you can win.

And aren’t you voting for an old, white, conservative member of the local Republican/right establishment today? 🙂

  2. You mean for mayor of San Diego? That?s a far cry from the US Supreme Court. And age and race does not entrt into my argument in favor of selecting a less conservative nominee. I know that they say all politics is local but your allegory is like saying that since a patrol officer used a false premise of pulling you over for a feild sobriety test by saying by saying as probable cause you were driving 2 miles over the speed limit then you should also accept being strip searched by the side of the road too.

Judge Roberts is George Ws first choice as a court nominee. Roberts is a threat to our freedom not only in the immediate future but also in the long term. His legacy on the court, should be ascend, will last a lot longer than a mayoral term. Roe vs Wade is only the tip of the iceberg.

First drafts are always the best you have, whether in sports or in a war against our right to be free. That?s why he is such bad news.
