Tool: Ten Thousand Days (Tool Dissectional/Volcano Entertainment)
They are considered legends in their own time by some, and pretentious mystic math-rockers by others. Maybe both sentiments are true. Regardless, Tool rarely seems to heed the opinions of others, and this latest release is certainly a manifestation of their occult inclinations and apparent ardor with complex song structures and dizzying time signatures. However, through their sonic exploration they certainly have not forgotten how to kick the listener in the ass. Songs such as “Jambi,” “The Pot,” and the instrumental climax of “Right in Two” groove in an approachable way that more progressive hard rock should. The initially indigestible sections will eventually find a comfortable place to nestle within your psyche, but it may take a few spins to get there. This is music for patient people. But patience isn’t always solely its own reward; sometimes you get some badass music. (http://www.toolband.com or http://www.zombalabelgroup.com) GC

  1. So I’ve been meaning to contact you but time has left little room to spare recently… I’m in the process of moving so everything is a wreck right now…but I’ll be seeing you on West coast time real soon! I of course am still very interested in reading your work, so if you have the opportunity to send me a copy that would be great.
