DJ Bart Blackstone<\/a> used to promote these big events called One Nation Under A Groove back in the early 1990s that were so popular they’d threaten to compete with Playskool at the Sports Arena or Casbah’s annual Halloween events. Well, almost. His events did have a lot of hype though, and were one of the only quasi-rave nights where I felt like putting down my camera and getting on the dancefloor. Here’s Bart in a photo I shot around that time at someone else’s bar night, I think, not too sure where. Judging from the cheesy Hollywood pic and the confetti streamers it may be a Revolt In Style party. The size of his shows simmered down around the time Casbah stopped doing their big Ramada Inn nights due to too much operating expense. Seems the powers that be want their ever growing gratuity when you’re a success. He still spins at the Casbah as One Nation Under A Groove occasionally from what I’ve seen on their schedule.
