GREAT MOON RESTAURANT – 1840 Garnet Ave, PB, phone: (858) 273-8268
If you like Chinese food and you can’t get enough in just one serving, or maybe you just can’t make up your mind…well, for you there is the Great Moon Restaurant. A lovely, roomy dining room that used to house a Souplantation and you can really tell – it has that wide open, almost cafeteria-style atmosphere that is de rigeur for those big all-you-can-eat buffet places where fat families take their fat kids and get even fatter.
Located in Pacific Beach, at 1840 Garnet, Great Moon is kind of a Las Vegas-y buffet eatery, without the slot machines and gratuitous noise; essentially it’s the same concept as a Souplantation or a Home Country Buffet or whatever it’s called, but with better food – when I visited I was impressed with the variety of tasty food. I saw several delicious types of sushi, a variety of spicy Chinese dishes like garlic spicy chicken, Mongolian beef, orange chicken, etc. There was also shrimp, with a spicy; I mean really SPICY cocktail sauce in which to dip the shrimp – or anything else. Also, there were green mussels, salmon, oysters, teriyaki chicken skewered on kebab sticks, chicken wings, pot stickers, yummy fried wonton, with the most sweet and delectable cream cheese. Besides the oysters and the mussels, another gourmet surprise was the prime rib-it was so good it seemed to just melt away in one’s mouth.
For dessert there was ice cream-soft serve ice cream-in vanilla, chocolate or mixed, with all the accoutrements to sprinkle over it, chocolate sprinkles, chopped nuts, chocolate syrup, peanuts with sugared sesame seeds over them, which are quite good; also available was chocolate cake, cookies and some exotic looking sweet treats.
Also available are party trays, give them a call and find out what you can get on yours, at (858) 273-8268. – KM.
eeks- glad youre feeling better!
Thanks.
