The music and art walk extends over 2 miles on Adams Avenue in the Normal Heights and Kensington communities running from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>A free and family-friendly event, Art Around Adams 2013: Ten Years on the Avenue! will showcase numerous visual and performance artists, stretching from Oregon street in Normal Heights to Vista street in Kensington. More than 100 businesses will change into impromptu art galleries and\/or performance arenas for the day.<\/p>\n<p>The event kicks off with introductions from Mayor Bob Filner and Council President Todd Gloria, followed by meet &amp; greets with them.<\/p>\n<p>The event consists of over nine performance areas (including a new &#8220;Kids Zone&#8221;) featuring music, performance art, creation of large scale murals, circus performers, dance, theatre, projection art, intergalactic superhero wrestling, comedians, a CD release party, and a free screening of the Disney\/Pixar film Monsters, Inc.<\/p>\n<p>Music:<br \/>\nThe Burning of Rome, Hills Like Elephants, Okapi Sun, The Black Sands, Patric Petrie, The New Kinetics, Mad Traffic, We Are Sirens, The Peripherals, Josh Damigo, Tolan Shaw, Scott Mathiasen &amp; The Shifty Eyed Dogs, True Stories, AntiQuark (CD Release Party), The Phantoms, Pan Am, The Bloodflowers, Neon Cough, Marie Haddad, The Sara Groban Band, The Comeuppance, Stone Horse, Scatterbrain, Odessa Kane, The Flowerthief, Cantua, Splurgeo, Jonny Tarr, Kimmi Bitter, Kiss &amp; Yell, Christopher Leyva and The Central Park 5.<\/p>\n<p>Performance Art \/ Theatre: Mindy Donner, Perry Vasquez, Tony Zepeda, Wendell Kling, Vallo Riberto, Tony Allard, and Super Awesome Showdown.<\/p>\n<p>Comedians: Pat Puccini, Dan Venti, Nick Crosby, Chris Curtis, Sam Wiles, Brennon Bullock, Jeff Bilodeau, Lauren O&#8217; Brien, Austin Train, Mike Ula, Kate Lee, Bijan Mostafavi, April Ventura, Allison Gill, Dave Callans, Laura Condi, Brian Simpson, Hugo Chew, Jesse Egan and Jasyn Brackett.<\/p>\n<p>Many more acts are slated to be announced in the near future.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is our tenth annual event and we&#8217;re raising the bar on everything,&#8221; said Executive Producer Adam Rosen. &#8220;In 2004 we premiered with only a few artists and attendees. The event has now grown to host over 100 performers and artists, welcoming over 20,000 attendees.&#8221; Rosen added,&#8221;Expect the unexpected, eclectic diverse performances and exhibits filled with headlining acts from start to finish will line the two mile stretch of Adams Avenue.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArt Around Adams is a great event, and I look forward to it every year,\u201d Council President Gloria said. \u201cThe Adams Avenue community is filled with music, art, and culture, and Art Around Adams brings all of that to the street for every San Diegan to enjoy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A complimentary trolley featuring live performances will shuttle guests up and down Adams Avenue throughout the day.
