From my only recent trip to Las Vegas: photographer Monica Tullar and Rob Ruckus of the band The Vermin, photographed by me in about 2003 in Monica’s studio setup inside the house she owned semi-close to the Vegas strip. Ruckus was and probably still is a bartender at The Double Down, a well-known punk rock dive bar venue in Vegas. I was in town to cover a multi-band multi-night megashow called the Confederacy Of Scum that was organized by TKO Records while they where still based in Richmond, VA. Ostensibly my reason for attending was that TKO Records was advertising in Reviewer at the time but it was also a goal of mine to experience the city. It was fascinating to see Vegas in all its seedy underbelly glory. How such a modern city was developed from a parched desert is amazing.<\/p>\n
