The History in American Music Runs Deep at The Black Cat Bar
In City Heights at The Black Cat bar with club proprietor Matthew Parker and his father Linton, holding the 1962 slide guitar once owned by Matt’s grandfather.Matt Parker on stage last weekend at The Black Cat with Trailduster, Matthew Strachota’s Americana-style band. The two of them were members of Bartender’s Bible and had not played together in two and a half years before this set.The Black Cat Bat is on University Avenue in City Heights, west of Fairmont Avenue and north of the freeway 15 offramp. If you have not driven by there yet it’s in a historic 1920’s building that was originally the site of San Diego’s second Bank of America.
